Ashanti

Ashanti Douglas, popularly called Ashanti and was born in Glen Cove New York United States on October 13th 1980. She is an American songwriter, singer and actor. Ashanti began her professional career as a teenager, and was then signed by Murder Inc. Records by 2002. She was featured on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that same year. The singer also appeared in Fat Joe's track What's the Luv? The first female artist who held the first and second spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and the track What's Luv? as number two. The singer continued to tour on stage in New York, and spent time at Murder Inc. studios hoping for a breakthrough. Ashanti was originally featured on Big Pun's song How We Roll as a backing singer. Ashanti sang on the track of Fat Joe,"What's Luv?" as well as Ja Rule's Always On Time. The sample used in the single that she released as her debut Foolish was taken from DeBarge's with Me, a 1983 track. Her self-titled album first released in 2002 on Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. record label. The Declaration, Ashanti's fourth studio album, came out on the 3rd of June, 2008. Hey Baby After the Club came out on October 16 to digital and radio outlets. She was in the film Christmas in the City and appeared as Latasha Montclair in Army Wives.
